Role: Communications Director
Hours: 40 Hours / Full-Time
Location: Fort Worth, TX (in person position)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Vision of Role
The Communications Director is responsible for communicating the mission of The Net through the mediums of print, email, social media, and website. This individual will design a comprehensive storytelling strategy, then carefully source and curate images, graphics, and written copy that represent the organization’s brand story and message. Finally, this individual will oversee the implementation of their master communication strategy and analyze performance on various communication channels.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Design a comprehensive storytelling strategy to communicate the mission of the organization for the purposes of brand awareness, volunteer engagement, and fundraising.
Facilitate the productions of high-quality creative content that abides by brand strategy, guidelines, and company vision and values.
Execute master communications plan through the channels of print, email, social media, and website.
Serve as a liaison between the executive team, development team, independent contractors, and vendors to complete projects.
Design a comprehensive storytelling strategy to communicate the mission of the organization for the purposes of brand awareness, volunteer engagement, and fundraising.
Build a thoughtful Communications plan for the purpose of: sharing the mission, promoting events, and driving giving
Create a calendar that incorporates all aspects of social media, timely email marketing, and printed materials deadlines
Ideate and strategize campaigns for big events or high impact giving seasons such as Anti-Trafficking Summit, Annual Report, North Texas Giving Day, annual fundraising event, End of Year Giving, etc.
Provide insight and suggestions at Development meetings based on trends in communications or past successes and lessons learned
Drive the strategy and voice of The Net’s social media presence
Facilitate the productions of high-quality creative content that abides by brand strategy, guidelines, and company vision and values. Curate visual and written content that represent the organization’s brand story and messaging.
Content Collection
Capture, store and organize photo and video content for The Net
Plan and execute lifestyle or studio photoshoots as needed to update content
Coordinate schedules across members of the team, photographers, and studio rentals
Approach content collection in a trauma-informed manner when appropriate
Communicate and set expectations with photographers
Create a detailed schedule and shot list for maximum efficiency
Assign photo content collection to members of the team when necessary and equip them with detailed instructions for executing
Utilize Dropbox and Later to store and organize photo and video content for The Net
Graphic Design
Design flyers, handouts, powerpoints, PDFs
Design social media and email marketing graphics
Create cohesive branding plans for big projects (EOY Report, Survivor Leader Luncheon, etc)
Includes campaigns (print, web, social media, etc.), events, collateral, merchandise, online presence, resources, training tools, fundraising tools, etc
Written Copy
Maintain the brand identity of The Net through a variety of short and long-form copy including social media captions, email marketing content, website content, and more.
Assign and facilitate collection of written content from full-time staff
Utilize Google sheets to store and organize written content for The Net and The Worthy Co.
Execute master communications plan through the channels of print, email, social media, and website.
Master the software and programs The Net utilizes for marketing efforts (CRM, email marketing, social media management, etc.) and research and recommend new options when existing software falls short.
Oversee important timelines and seek approval or insight from the Development team on campaigns, printed materials, or other promotion when applicable
Communicate with key team members to collect any necessary inputs
Manage Independent Contractor scheduling and logistics
Help develop and refine the content capturing, calendar creation, scheduling, posting, and community management process for The Net brands
Take ownership of ordering/reordering printed materials such as invitations, mailers, brochures, and info cards.
Write and send Net emails
Design necessary graphics
Utilize content collection from staff to tell high impact donor-centric stories
Update automated email sequences when necessary
Respond to any follow-up emails from email marketing campaigns
Note how email campaigns perform and use that information to tweak future campaigns
Write and schedule Instagram and Facebook main posts and stories
Manage requests from members of the team for promotion of certain events
Manage direct messages and comments on posts and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 1-2 years in non-profit fundraising and development (preferred)
Proven track record of securing major gifts, successfully managing campaigns, engaging a community of motivated supporters, and achieving fundraising goals/objectives
Grant writing experience preferred
Experience working within donor databases/CRM software preferred
Excellent computer skills including Google Documents, etc. The Net operates on Apple laptops.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent and creative written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Ability to articulate organizational mission, values and stories.
Proficiency with Canva
Ability to create graphics, flyers, and story templates
Experience managing a social media account / calendar
Experience with using a social media calendar platform (ex: Later, Plann)
Intermediate knowledge of and experience in photography and using a digital camera or iPhone

Avoid typos or grammatical errors in all copy including print materials, Instagram captions, and email marketing
Ensure all links in mass emails are functioning properly

COMPENSATION
$65,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience
